North Cascades National Park/ MT Baker is one of my favorite locations for family photos! I love the variety in scenery and how easy it is to just play. The number one thing people say is “it doesn’t look real!” I saw recently that North Cascades National Park was rated one of the least visited (probably because of the location) but it’s one of my favorites! Soooo beautiful.
Why you should choose MT Baker for your family photos:
If I had to choose just one spot as my favorite ever it would be here. Hands down. There is no hiking needed (unless you want to). The area is mostly rock so it’s easier for kids to play (most national parks don’t allow you to go off trail but there is more wiggle room here to play without damaging any vegetation). There are actually two different mountains for backdrops at this spot. MT Shuksan and MT Baker. I usually end up losing light before I can get to all my favorite backdrops! There are just two many beautiful spots to get to. This location is the very best for art for your walls. One of my favorite photos of my kids is here!
What to do in Bellingham, WA
This spot is about an hour or so from Bellingham which is a great place for a “staycation”. There are so many really great air bnbs as well. My other favorite thing about Bellingham is the food! They have really great restaurants. We have had amazing Italian, Indian, and Pizza!
My favorite air bnb ever is this place with a pool! We have stayed there 4 or 5 times now. I book it first for this trip each year so you will have to come back another time 😉. It’s the perfect place to go in the winter with your kids because the pool is heated and covered.
If you’re in town with kids don’t miss the Electricity museum! This is a small little museum but it’s very hands on and fun. They actually have a Tesla coil we’ve seen in a field trip.
If you want to see more here’s a favorite session recently at MT Baker.
