Olympic National Park Beach

This beach has been a favorite for a long time now. I even had my family photos taken here recently! My dad even has memories here from when he was a kid so I just love that we have some places that have history like that.

Why you should pick this spot for your family photos:

If you have little kids that need to play, this is your spot! It looks like an ocean beach but without the crazy drive! I also love that it has such variety in the backdrops. There is a grassy area with trees, a rock wall, and the ocean of course. The tide can go waaaay out which makes for amazing tide pools. I often have families come back the next day to just play more. There is some actual sand (hard to find in Washington), shallow water, and lots of rocks and sticks to play with.

It also looks completely different based on the weather. I love it when it’s cloudy or sunny. The foggy weather makes it the perfect Pacific Northwest backdrop. It can be tricky to find a beach location in Seattle that also gets good golden hour light. This one is just great!

Where to stay:

There are two different camp sites within walking distance if that sounds up your alley. One is for RVs and the other has sites for tents. This location is so close to Port Angeles which has amazing air bnbs. This one is a bucket list spot for sure! (sooo pricey though). Another spot to check out is Lake Crescent Lodge or Lake Quinault Lodge.

What to wear:

There are several different ways to go with outfits for a session at this olympic national park beach. I have had clients wear dresses or jeans(I love a pop of color but neutral photographs well too). I even had a family choose a “Little Women” theme!
