This has become my go-to location for family photos in Boise! The military Reserve is a great spot in the Boise foothills for hiking and walking but also an amazing location for family photos! There are many waves of wildflowers through the spring and summer. I also love that it’s so widespread that it’s easy to get a spot to yourself.
Sunset light
This spot is ideal for sunset light! I like to start lower in the valley and then end at the top for sunset. For those that want views of Boise and downtown there are places for that too! Spin around the other way and you get waves of foothills in the background.
Location
I won’t ever get over the fact that spots like this are only 10 minutes from downtown. Only 30 minutes from me in Nampa. We used to drive HOURS for hills and wildflowers in Seattle. For most Boise residents this is a super easy spot to get to and then grab ice cream after! (I recommend Fanci Freeze).
