When I was a newer photographer I quickly realized that one of the most difficult parts of photoshoots was the posing! I would quickly run out of ideas. One of the most difficult combos is single kiddo families (in my opinion). Here are some examples and tips for this specific combo!

Posing Ideas for Mom and Toddler photoshoot

The toddler is the star of the show! I have some key poses (which I will get to) but the key is paying attention to what they are into and what they are up for. Sometimes they will be more playful and want to be on the move. Sometimes because it’s late they will want to be snuggly and stay close to mom and dad.

Posing List:

Mom holding toddler close.

Mom tossing toddler.

Mom letting toddler fall back and then back up again.

Walking and bouncing.

Finding something natural for them to play with (being careful that it’s not something they can hurt themselves with or eat).

Sitting and airplaning above head.

Holding toddlers hand while walking.

Letting toddler walk ahead of mom.

Spinning around.
