This year has gotten away from me so I haven’t been posting my monthly reading updates! But I have been reading! Here are the notable ones so far for months January- June! I always update my goodreads as I go as well.
Madwoman – Chelsea Bieker: I honestly don’t remember much about this book but I rated 5 stars back in January so I must have liked it at the time!
The Wild Robot Escapes – Peter Brown: These books have been the best road trip audio books for the family! I was pleasantly surprised with how good the second book was.
Night Road – Kristin Hannah: I am a little biased with Kristins books because they all take place in places I have lived which makes me really nostalgic. Night Road takes place on an island in WA that I have lived on before. I just love her books and this one was super heartfelt and sad.
We All Live Here – Jojo Moyes: I LOVE Jojo Moyes but was a little disappointed in this one. It was good but lacked a little depth. I wasn’t all that invested in any character.
The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley – Courtney Walsh: Courtney Walsh can do no wrong in my book. This was a sweet version of the “socially awkward person makes friends” trope.
Vera Wong’s Guide to Snooping on a Dead Man – Jesse Q. Sutano: Nothing can top the first book in this series but I was happy with this follow up! Such a fun cast of characters and Vera is just so funny.
Broken Country – Clare Leslie Hall: I didn’t love this one all the way through (a little slow and sad for me) but the ending had me thinking for days after.
Wild Dark Shore – Charlotte McConaghy: Another one that was slow and sad but super atmospheric and again the ending was enough to bump it to a 4 star for me.
Summer Romance – Annabel Monaghan : I can’t remember a thing about this one but I rated it 5 stars.
Say You’ll Remember Me – Abby Jimenez: Ok this one was so dark and depressing… There were a few cringy moments too. What I did like was the duel narration. And not just alternating chapters, but every talking part was taken by that narrator. More of this please!
The Missing Half – Ashley Flowers: I don’t know why I was on such a thriller kick this summer but this one piqued my interest. I was listening to it on audible and had the last 25 percent left one night and bought the book on my Kindle just to read the last several chapters because I had to know what happened…
The Sicilian Inheritance – Jo Piazza: I wanted to like this one more. I feel like it could have been a really incredible story but fell a little short. I loved learning about the Sicilian history though.
Beg, Borrow, or Steal – Sarah Adams: This whole series is just so sweet and fun. I have loved them all, even if they are a little sappy.
The Bright Years – Sarah Damoff: Wow was I impressed. I love a multigenerational story and this one delivered. Wow. The sudio was very good and had several different narrators for multiple points of view.
Everything’s Coming up Rosie – Courtney Walsh: Again, Courtney Walsh can do no wrong. These are exactly what I need them to be. The perfect escape into a kinda unrealistic but fun and sweet world.
What Kind Of Paradise – Janelle Brown: I have loved all of hers lately as well and I think this may be my favorite. I think having a connection to Montana helped. This felt like a well done version of “Educated” in fiction form.
