I don’t even know where to begin with this amazing styled family session in Boise! I saw this dress at Kindred Soul (a dress rental company I use frequently) and knew exactly how I wanted to use it! The dress brand is Reclamation which is a handmade line loved by photographers. I also used it for a maternity session!

Start with a statement piece

I started with the dress and the location as my inspiration. Generally, I start with mom and girls first. Little sis was adorable in this Indie Blue tulle dress I had. Unless I have something fun like overalls or accessories for the boys, dresses are just a little more fun… This one was a bit “extra” but momma totally pulled it off. It was her idea to use cowboy boots and I LOVED it! The suspenders for middle brother was a great way to add visual interest.

Add texture

Another way to add visual interest is with texture. We used a muslin set for littlest brother for that reason. I was a little unsure about dad’s shirt since it had pattern but I really liked how it turned out. Recently I had seen some sessions with baskets of flowers and knew it was exactly what this session needed. I started scouring second hand shops for the perfect one.
