Mt. Baker Family Photography Sessions

Mt. Baker is one of the most breathtaking locations in Washington for family photography sessions, offering alpine meadows, mountain views, and wide open space for kids to explore. For everyone that is craving adventure, connection, and a love of the outdoors, a MT Baker family session is the perfect fit! This is one of my very favorite locations (and I have traveled to a ton of locations…). There is a reason why I drive 13 hours to photograph families here every year!

Why Choose Mt Baker for Your Family Photos

• Mt Baker is the perfect “adventurous” location for kids of all ages. There are some mountain locations that I do not recommend for toddlers or “runners” but this one feels very safe for anyone. You drive to the top, and you’re immediately at your spot. There are options for hiking around for those who wish, but it’s not necessary.
• Overnight trip perfection: I know this spot is a drive for pretty much anyone but Bellingham/North Cascades National Park is a fantastic overnight trip for families. There are so many airbnbs within an hour of the top of the mountain. The food and playgrounds are amazing.
• Backdrop: you just can’t beat it. I have photographed families in over 6 states and still count this as my top 2 favorites.

Best Time of Year for Mt. Baker Family Sessions

I generally choose mid August for Baker sessions for the weather! We lived in Everett for 3 years and during that time I would travel to Mt Baker often to photograph family sessions. The most consistent weather tends to be around that time frame.

What to Expect During Your Family Session

A Mt Baker family session is very similar to any family session except it’s in an epic location! There are many factors to how your session will go including ages of kids and how much you want to hike around. One of the biggest problems I have at this spot is that there are more backdrops and stops I want to make than we can usually fit in! What to Wear for Mt. Baker Family Photos

There are so many options for outfits when it comes to this location. We can go super epic and rent a dress. I’ll attach one of my favorites here! Maternity sessions at MT Baker are incredible and made even more fun with a dress that’s a little extra. I do have some amazing dresses to borrow from my client closet as well. There is also an option to go casual and more low key. This will all depend on your personality and personal style.

Is Mt. Baker Good for Young Kids?

Like I mentioned before this is the perfect spot for family photos with kids! If you are a family that spends lots of time outside already you will feel right at home. One of my favorite types of sessions are the ones with people who have never been up there before and maybe don’t adventure a whole lot. Don’t be intimidated! I am happy to chat with anyone who isn’t sure if it’s the best fit for their family or not.
