June Reading Recap

This was a real light month reading wise! I actually have several books I did not finish so I’m blaming it on that.

Did not finish: The Demon of Unrest- I’m sure this is a good book but it was not what I was in the mood for at the time. I did the audio version which was a little dry so I may try the physical copy. Table for Two- I love Amor Towles but these short stories just weren’t it for me. My Favorite Half Night Stand- I may pick this back up but I just was not invested.

All We Were Promised: Ashton Lattimore

I really liked this one. It takes place in pre civil war Philadelphia. I liked the perspective of the wealthy, free black community living during this time and the challenge they had of fighting against inequality. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was that bothered me about it until I read a Goodreads review. They mentioned that the vernacular used made it feel more modern then the time period which I agree with.

The Outlaw Noble Salt: Amy Harmon

I really love this author. For some reason this book isn’t available via Kindle at most libraries but mine had a hard copy. This is a fictionalized account of Butch Cassidy falling in love. It was sweet and sad.

The Rom-Commers: Katherine Center

This was fun! I can understand why people don’t like it, but for what it was I enjoyed it. Great beach read.

Real Americans: Rachel Khong

This was interesting. I just finished it and still am not sure how I feel about it. The timeline felt a little messy and I still don’t 100% understand the science piece of it.

See my May recap here!
