After being a photographer for 10 years I have found 4 things that I use to enhance every family session!
Light:
I pick my locations with light in mind first. I prefer golden hour but since we can’t control the weather it needs to be somewhere that is beautiful regardless. I use light during my sessions to enhance the mood and overall photo. Every single photo is taken with light being considered! Most of my photos are backlit but I do also use sidelight and direct light when needed.
Styling:
Not every session needs to use flowy dresses and accessories but clothes do need to be intentional. I love to use fun dresses to help mommas feel beautiful and the motion of them photographs really well. But that doesn’t mean that you must wear a dress to your session. If you’re going to go more causal there is definitely thought that needs to go into making every detail count!
Landscape:
Location again! I love to highlight my families with beautiful backdrops. They need to stand out but also be able to use the photo as art in their home. My personal preference is to have an open field with tall grass and trees for shade. My adventure sessions get super epic with mountains and lakes and views!
Emotion:
The best photos you can “feel”. My job is to facilitate a session where the family can be themselves. I want to see true emotion and connection. This is where a full session is best because we can really take our time to let everyone relax and be themselves. If you’re in the Boise, Idaho area you can book here!
